This pillar - A More Prosperous Limerick - drives a sea-change by adding tens of thousands of new jobs in Limerick, delivers more equal opportunity for all, growth of SMEs, agri-food and other sectors, revitalises the city centre and shows that with the right ambition we become an energy exporting region, have enough jobs for all of our graduates and have planned better for the future to insulate us better from the shocks in the future and move our region to carbon net zero by 2035.
A More Prosperous Limerick is set out under 15 focus areas and in total contains 149 examples of the multiple actions I as Mayor would deliver over the 5 year Mayoral term.
In my presentation, I set out an overall context and ambitious vision for Limerick as an energy exporter at the centre of an offshore clean energy supply which is sufficient to power not just all of Ireland but several Ireland's. A vision captured in the video from the Shannon Estuary Task Force. But also one which focuses on indigenous business growth ranging from Agri&Food, retail and hi tech AI and engineering but most of all our emerging creative industry sector as well as an FDI sector built around the next disrupters tacking climate change and life sciences.
A great panel discussion with John Bateman (Farmer) Aoife McNamana (Fashion Designer) and Fiona Murphy (Engineering) validated the action plan and looked forward to the new Limerick with optimism.
