Can you spare a little donation?

It is important to me to remain a non party political mayor.  It you can spare a little, it would help me a lot.

Being independent creates difficulties and hurdles battling large parties, lobbyists and vested interests who do not want the DEM reform to succeed or the vision of Limerick I support to be delivered.

The Government could have chosen to support the Mayor like they do other full time politicians and Ministers but they did not. Why choose to make it easy for this reform to succeed?

To make it tougher, the legislation for Limerick's mayor did not include any support for the Mayor's political battles - no funding for a constituency clinic, for help to develop press relationships for political battles about policy or just simply to fund political research to support the DEM battle for change of local government.

They say money makes the world go round. Perhaps not exactly so, but it certainly makes a fight for change and reform much easier.

But there are still limits.  Basically small and often is the way to go.

Ireland has strict rules governing the size of contributions and who can donate. Any donations I receive will be treated in line with Irish Standards in Public Office guidelines (See Irish donation rules).   Donations will be lodged directly to the Mayor's Campaign Account and returns will be filed in accordance with all Acts and Codes.  There are also limits on how much can be spent in any election.  All funds raised will be used to support delivery of the mayoral programme or to help more generally the fight for reform of local government in Ireland and the adoption of elected mayors by other counties.

I ask that you please respect the funding rules.  It makes our job easier as, otherwise, we may need to return your donation or, if anonymous and in excess of 100 euros, give the funds to the Standards in Public Office Commission.

If you can afford to help us, please follow the instructions below to donate to our cause.
